Buying guide

Choosing welding sleeves

The gap between your glove and your shirt is where a lot of burns happen. Sleeves close it.

Leather sleeves

Split cowhide sleeves handle heavy spatter and are a good add-on for stick and MIG work.

FR cotton sleeves

Light, cool and comfortable. A good pick for TIG, light MIG and long shifts.

Para-aramid knit

Thumb-notched aramid knit sleeves add cut and heat resistance for handling sharp, hot parts. The thumb hole keeps them from riding up.

Length

Measure from your wrist to where you want coverage to end. Forearm sleeves cover to the elbow. Longer sleeves, like our 23 inch aramid knits, reach past it.

Good to know

Sleeves and long-sleeve FR shirts

Some welders prefer a long-sleeve FR shirt for full arm coverage, then add a leather sleeve on top when spatter is heavy. You'll find both here.

For cut protection, aramid knit sleeves are thin enough to wear under a shirt sleeve or over it.

Close the gap between glove and sleeve.

FAQ

Welding sleeve questions

Are welding sleeves sold as pairs?

Most are. Check the listing to confirm whether it's a single sleeve or a pair.

Do welding sleeves stay in place?

Most use elastic at both ends. Thumb-notched knit sleeves also hook over your thumb so they don't slide up.

Can I wear sleeves over an FR shirt?

Yes. That's a common setup that adds heavy protection where spatter lands most.

Why are FR T-shirts in this collection?

Long-sleeve FR shirts give full arm coverage and are often bought with sleeves. You'll find more in FR Shirts & Tops.
