Buying guide

Choosing FR pants

FR pants come in a few fabrics. Each one fits a different kind of work.

Stretch canvas

10 oz AR/FR stretch canvas moves with you when you kneel, climb or crouch, and holds up to rough jobsite wear.

FR denim

FR denim looks like your regular jeans and is tough enough for daily wear. Heavier weights add protection and durability.

FR cotton

9 oz FR cotton pants are a lighter, budget-friendly option in bright colors like orange for visibility.

Fit

Measure your waist and inseam. Pants should sit long enough that your ankles stay covered when you kneel or sit.

Good to know

What AR/FR means

AR/FR means the fabric is both arc rated (tested for electrical arc flash) and flame resistant. It's common on pants made for electricians and plant workers.

If your job only requires FR, an FR-only pant works. If you're on an NFPA 70E program, check that the arc rating matches your PPE category.

FAQ

FR pants questions

Do FR pants shrink?

FR cotton and denim can shrink slightly in the first washes. Wash cool, dry on low and consider going up an inseam if you're between lengths.

Can I wear FR pants for welding?

Yes. FR pants resist ignition from sparks. For heavy spatter, add a leather apron or chaps.

What's the difference between 10 oz and 14 oz?

Heavier fabric gives more durability and protection and is a bit warmer. Lighter fabric is more comfortable in the heat.

Do these come in different inseams?

Yes. Many styles come in 30, 32 and 34 inch inseams. Check the size options on each listing.
